GLO RILLA AND HER TATTOOS: STORIES IN INK

Rising Memphis rapper GloRilla is known for her energetic music, bold personality, and signature tattoos.
Each piece of ink on her body holds a deep personal meaning, reflecting different chapters of her life.
In a recent GQ Tattoo Tour interview, she opened up about the stories behind her tattoos, revealing how they symbolize her journey, struggles, and triumphs.
THE ICONIC GORILLA CHEST PIECE

One of GloRilla’s most recognizable tattoos is the red gorilla on her chest.
The tattoo is a direct nod to her stage name, representing strength, resilience, and her bold persona.
She also chose red as the color because it’s her favorite color.
Many women get heart tattoos in this area, but GloRilla wanted something different—something that spoke to who she is.
The gorilla tattoo has since become a defining piece of her body art collection.
HER FIRST TATTOO & THE COVER-UP
Like many people, GloRilla’s first tattoo wasn’t her favorite. During her senior year of high school, she got the phrase “Big Glo” with a crown inked on her body.
Over time, she became unhappy with the way it looked, leading her to cover it up with a detailed gorilla face.
This experience taught her a valuable lesson—choosing the right artist and design is everything. The cover-up, however, turned into one of her favorite tattoos, proving that sometimes mistakes lead to something even better.
THE PAINFUL HAND TATTOO EXPERIENCE

Among GloRilla’s tattoos, the one on her hand stands out for another reason—it was excruciatingly painful.
She recalled fainting during the session, attributing it to a few bad decisions—wearing a waist trainer and drinking alcohol beforehand.
The pain was intense, making it one of her toughest tattoo experiences.
TATTOOS AS THERAPY
For GloRilla, getting tattoos has been a form of therapy. She admitted that during tough times, she would get inked to help channel her emotions.
One such piece is a snake tattoo, which she got impulsively during a difficult period in her life. Looking back, she now considers covering it up with something more meaningful.
TRIBUTES TO FAMILY

Family is important to GloRilla, and she has tattoos dedicated to her loved ones.
Among them are her mother’s name, “Olivia”, and her father’s name, “Edwin”. These tattoos serve as constant reminders of her roots, her upbringing, and the people who have supported her on her journey.
GLO RILLA'S INK TELLS HER STORY
Each of GloRilla’s tattoos carries a piece of her life’s journey—from childhood dreams to music industry success.

They aren’t just random designs; they are expressions of who she is, where she’s been, and what she’s overcome.
